My Teacher
theblog.weemade.com accepts submissions of child art from anyone.  The collection looks pretty good so far.  I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

David Horvitz

March 1, 2008 New York

David Horvitz is an artist working in one of my favorite artistic mediums; doing absolutely anything he considers art. The above photograph is from a series where he photographs the sky every day. He will mail you prints for a price, or email you for free.

My favorite work he does is “Things for sale that I will mail you”, where you pay him what it would cost to go somewhere and do something or his choosing, resulting in him mailing you something particular.

Souvenir of the N. American Indians, as they were in the nineteenth century.

Sioux Encampment MovingThis is an interesting book of drawings of nineteenth century native americans from various tribes by George Catlin.  More of Catlin’s work can be seen here, but I like the sketches, many of which were used for finished paintings.via BibliOdyssey

In-wheel electric motors

Volvo Recharge ConceptMy thoughts on how a car should be designed involve using an electric motor for each wheel.  This allows for maximum traction, while reducing lost energy significantly.  PML has devised an in-wheel electric motor they call the Hi-Pa Drive that is perfect for this use, and even uses the motors for four wheel regenerative braking.  One of their first applications of the technology was to convert a Mini Cooper to this drive system.  Volvo is using this drivetrain in a concept.  Mitsubishi and Siemens are working on similar concepts.
